Dear Friends,

Today we have toilet of different hues in our homes, offices and what not. Do we know who invented Toilet ? Here is the answer.

Sanitation was quite neglected for centuries and it was not until 1596 that Sir John Hamington a godson of Queen Elizabeth devised a toilet having a cistern aa source of water and a valve for releasing water. Although one was installed in the palace the device was not widely used. In 1778 Joseph Bramah patented a design three years after a watchmaker Alexander Burmah patented a design three years later after a watchmaker Aledander Cumming (England) had patented a valve type model. The devices of both the inventors were installed in many homes although lack of sewers meant that cesspools and primitive outdoor facilities had to be used for many years.
